Company Overview

The company aims to bring quantum computing into practical, real-world use.

By realizing quantum computing, they seek to balance energy efficiency with high computational power, overcome the limits of information processing facing humanity, and contribute to the creation of a sustainable society.

They are a pioneering leader in the global quantum computing market, driven by proprietary optical quantum technology that enables room-temperature operation and excellent scalability. A diverse team of highly skilled professionals from various backgrounds and fields collaborates daily, transcending borders and disciplinary boundaries.

They welcome ambitious individuals who want to create world-changing “next-generation technology” firsthand and make a genuine impact on the global market.

The company is also well-capitalized, having raised a total of 7 billion yen in funding.

Job Description

You will join an R&D project and conduct research—focusing on the experimental aspects—aimed at realizing a fault-tolerant optical quantum computer. In particular, you will be responsible for architectural design and associated experiments, taking a holistic view of the entire optical quantum computer system.

Specifically, you will lead research on the architectural design of optical quantum computers, including:

・Devising, evaluating, and experimentally testing system configurations (encompassing quantum circuits, optical systems, and control systems)

・Researching, devising, evaluating, and experimentally testing novel architectural concepts

・Defining specifications in collaboration with the theoretical team

・Providing technical evaluation and design support for R&D projects

・Evaluating the performance of quantum computing systems and analyzing bottlenecks

・Conducting design reviews, engaging in team discussions, and preparing documentation

Requirements

・Degree: Holder of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in one of the following fields:
>Optics (lasers, optical frequency combs, integrated optical circuits, nonlinear optics, optical communications)
>Quantum (quantum information theory, quantum information physics, quantum optics)

・English Proficiency: Ability to communicate smoothly with other researchers and quantum computing experts
・At least two years of research and development experience related to continuous-variable optical quantum computing (including research during Master’s or Doctoral programs; covering both experimental and theoretical work)
・Experience handling bosonic systems; generating, verifying, and evaluating continuous-variable quantum entanglement; and fundamental knowledge of non-Gaussian states (e.g., Schrödinger’s cat states, Fock states, GKP states) and continuous-variable quantum computing (including universal quantum computation and error correction)
・Experimental experience with continuous-variable cluster states (regardless of the quantum mode definition—spatial, temporal, frequency, etc.)
・Ability to conduct quantum optics experiments autonomously, including the design, planning, and construction of experimental setups
・Fundamental knowledge of laser experiments (continuous-wave or pulsed)
・Fundamental knowledge of nonlinear optics (e.g., wave mixing, sum-frequency generation, difference-frequency generation, harmonic generation, parametric down-conversion)
・Fundamental experimental skills in quantum optics (e.g., interferometers, phase locking, lens system design, homodyne measurement, and operation of measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers)

Preferred Requirements

・Experience authoring papers as the first author
・Experience authoring papers as the corresponding author
・Research experience in both experimental and theoretical fields
・Japanese language proficiency at a conversational level
・Work experience at a company related to quantum computing
