Global Recruitment

Company Overview

The company aims to bring quantum computing into practical, real-world use.

By realizing quantum computing, they seek to balance energy efficiency with high computational power, overcome the limits of information processing facing humanity, and contribute to the creation of a sustainable society.

They are a pioneering leader in the global quantum computing market, driven by proprietary optical quantum technology that enables room-temperature operation and excellent scalability. A diverse team of highly skilled professionals from various backgrounds and fields collaborates daily, transcending borders and disciplinary boundaries.

They welcome ambitious individuals who want to create world-changing “next-generation technology” firsthand and make a genuine impact on the global market.

The company is also well-capitalized, having raised a total of 7 billion yen in funding.

Background

The Architecture Unit plays a broad role in the design of optical quantum computers—ranging from conceptual design and evaluation of future systems to detailed design based on existing technologies. To accelerate our R&D toward realizing optical quantum computing, we are currently strengthening our team. In this role, we are seeking high-potential, growth-oriented individuals who have a strong interest in optical quantum information and the ambition to eventually lead world-class, cutting-edge technology from the high-level architecture layer. Particularly on the experimental side, research focusing on practical aspects such as scalable design and fault-tolerant technology design is required.

Key Responsibilities

The R&D (Research & Development) department is the core of our business growth and the source of our competitive advantage. In this position, you will conduct foundational research (both experimental and theoretical) aimed at realizing a fault-tolerant universal optical quantum computer. Your primary responsibility will be the design and demonstration experiments related to the overall architecture of optical quantum computers.

More specifically, you will support research on photonic quantum computing architectures. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing system configurations encompassing quantum circuits, optical systems, and control systems, and conducting experiments to implement and validate them.
  • Investigating, developing, and evaluating novel architecture concepts, and conducting experiments to implement and validate them.
  • Working with theoritical teams to define system requirements and specifications.
  • Providing technical analysis and design support for R&D projects.
  • Evaluating the performance of quantum computing systems and identifying system bottlenecks.
  • Participating in design reviews and technical discussions, and preparing technical documentation within the team.

Depending on your interests and preferences, you may also have opportunities to take the lead on some of these activities.

Requirements

  • A background in physics, applied physics, physical engineering, or a related field, with a master’s degree or higher
  • Experience in numerical computation, data analysis, and simulation using Python or similar tools
  • Research experience in optics, lasers, quantum optics, quantum mechanics, or related fields
  • Theoretical collaborating with theoretical teams

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience writing papers as a first author.
  • Experience in both experimental and theoretical research.
  • Conversational proficiency in Japanese.
  • Experience working at a quantum computing-related company.
  • Education: Ph.D. holder, or research experience in a Ph.D. program
  • Language Skills: English proficiency at a level sufficient for smooth communication with other researchers and quantum computing experts
