Company Overview

The company aims to bring quantum computing into practical, real-world use.

By realizing quantum computing, they seek to balance energy efficiency with high computational power, overcome the limits of information processing facing humanity, and contribute to the creation of a sustainable society.

They are a pioneering leader in the global quantum computing market, driven by proprietary optical quantum technology that enables room-temperature operation and excellent scalability. A diverse team of highly skilled professionals from various backgrounds and fields collaborates daily, transcending borders and disciplinary boundaries.

They welcome ambitious individuals who want to create world-changing “next-generation technology” firsthand and make a genuine impact on the global market.

The company is also well-capitalized, having raised a total of 7 billion yen in funding.

Job Description

You will conduct theoretical research aimed at realizing a fault-tolerant optical quantum computer. In particular, you will be responsible for architecture design, simulation, and performance analysis, taking a holistic view of the entire optical quantum computer system.

Specifically, you will lead research on the architecture design of optical quantum computers.

・Devising and validating system configurations, including quantum circuits, optical systems, and control systems
・Devising and validating novel architecture concepts
・Devising and validating novel quantum error correction codes
・Collaborating with experimental teams to determine specifications
・Providing technical analysis and design support for R&D projects
・Evaluating performance and analyzing bottlenecks in quantum computing systems
・Conducting design reviews, engaging in technical discussions, and preparing documentation within the team

Requirements

・Degree: Holder of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in one of the following fields:
○ Optics (lasers, optical frequency combs, integrated optical circuits, nonlinear optics, optical communications)
○ Quantum (quantum information theory, quantum information physics, quantum optics)
・English proficiency: Capable of smooth communication with other researchers and quantum computing experts.
・At least two years of research and development experience in continuous-variable optical quantum computing (including research during Master’s or Doctoral programs; covering both experimental and theoretical work).
・Experience handling bosonic systems; generation, verification, and evaluation of continuous-variable quantum entanglement; and fundamental knowledge of non-Gaussian states (e.g., Schrödinger cat states, Fock states, GKP states) and continuous-variable quantum computing (including universal quantum computation and error correction).
・Deep understanding of continuous-variable error correction theory.
・Numerical computation skills required for research on error correction (e.g., calculating fault-tolerance thresholds and error rates).
・Research and development experience with bosonic codes (e.g., GKP codes, Cat codes).
・Research and development experience regarding continuous-variable error correction architectures.
・Basic knowledge of experiments involving continuous-variable optical quantum computers.

Preferred Requirements

・Experience authoring papers as the first author
・Experience authoring papers as the corresponding author
・Research experience in both experimental and theoretical work
・Japanese language proficiency at a conversational level
・Work experience at a company related to quantum computing
