Global Recruitment

Company Overview

The company aims to bring quantum computing into practical, real-world use.

By realizing quantum computing, they seek to balance energy efficiency with high computational power, overcome the limits of information processing facing humanity, and contribute to the creation of a sustainable society.

They are a pioneering leader in the global quantum computing market, driven by proprietary optical quantum technology that enables room-temperature operation and excellent scalability. A diverse team of highly skilled professionals from various backgrounds and fields collaborates daily, transcending borders and disciplinary boundaries.

They welcome ambitious individuals who want to create world-changing “next-generation technology” firsthand and make a genuine impact on the global market.

The company is also well-capitalized, having raised a total of 7 billion yen in funding.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the selection, construction, performance characterization, and system integration of the laser light source—the core component—during the development of optical quantum computer prototypes and actual systems. The role centers on hands-on hardware development, where you will personally set up evaluation systems and implement the technology while measuring and adjusting parameters such as output power, wavelength, beam quality, and stability. You will take on the challenge of developing novel laser systems designed to implement optical quantum computer architectures.

・Construction, evaluation, and adjustment of laser light sources
>Characterization of narrow-linewidth, high-power lasers (fiber, semiconductor, wavelength conversion, etc.): output power, wavelength, beam quality (M²), phase noise, RIN, long-term stability, etc.
>Characterization of optical frequency combs: pulse width, repetition rate, output power, carrier-envelope offset, waveform shaping.
>Other optical evaluations: power meters, beam profilers, spectrum analyzers, wavefront measurement, PER measurement, optical beat, optical heterodyne detection, etc.

・System integration and alignment
Coupling laser sources to free space and optical fibers; optical axis adjustment (alignment).
Integration into prototype systems, precision assembly, and operational verification.
・Issue identification and improvement
Investigating laser performance issues during system operation and evaluating/testing improvement proposals.

Requirements

・University degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D.) or higher in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
・Experience handling and evaluating laser light sources and equipment (minimum of 5 years total; combined experience from universities, research institutions, private companies, etc.)
>*Candidates are not limited to those with experience in the actual development or design of laser sources; we also welcome those who have used lasers and have hands-on experience evaluating and measuring laser characteristics (such as output, wavelength, noise, and beam quality).

・Practical or research experience in measurement, data acquisition, and numerical analysis using languages such as Python, MATLAB, Scilab, R, C/C++, or C#
・Experience designing and procuring simple jigs (capable of designing measurement jigs using 3D CAD or commissioning their fabrication)
・Basic knowledge of linear and nonlinear optics
・Ability to read and understand English technical documents, product specifications from overseas manufacturers, and research papers (comfortable reading without difficulty)
・A strong inquisitive spirit and the drive to independently research and engage in trial-and-error problem-solving, even for tasks outside one’s immediate area of expertise
・Communication skills to proactively formulate and drive development plans while engaging in discussions with internal and external stakeholders

・Japanese proficiency at a conversational level (JLPT N3 or higher)

・English proficiency at a business level

Preferred Requirements

・Experience in the design, development, and use of laser sources (fiber, semiconductor, solid-state, etc.) and wavelength conversion optical systems
・Knowledge of and experience evaluating optical components (EOM, AOM, EDFA, etc.)
・Experience in the design, assembly, and evaluation of optical resonators
・Experience developing or implementing equipment for evaluating light sources
・Experience conducting product benchmark studies (internal or competitor products)
