Founded in 2015, the company is a cutting-edge startup specializing in optical and microscopy technologies for scientific instrumentation.
The company designs and develops advanced optical measurement systems and spectroscopic microscopes, providing solutions to universities and private companies worldwide.
Key products and technologies include: spectroscopic microscopes, Frequency-Domain Thermoreflectance (FDTR) microscopes, and ultra-thin knife-edge laser measurement systems—highly innovative analytical instruments at the forefront of optical science.
Customers: Universities, research institutions, and private enterprises in Japan and globally.
Initially, the primary focus will be measuring and analyzing thermal properties using the company’s flagship product, the Frequency Domain Thermoreflectance (FDTR) microscope. Prior experience with thermoreflectance measurement is not required; comprehensive guidance on measurement principles and operation methods will be provided.
This position fundamentally requires curiosity to research literature and try new measurement methods, as well as the perseverance to steadily carry out detailed tasks. Since this role involves frequent customer interaction, candidates who are eager to hone their communication skills are highly welcome.
Specific Tasks:
Pre-treatment of measurement samples (metal thin film deposition via sputtering and film thickness measurement).
Measurement and analysis of thermal properties using the FDTR microscope.
Preparation of measurement reports and presentations for clients.
Creation of application notes (measurement case studies) for product promotion.
Measurement and analysis tasks using other cutting-edge optical measurement and spectroscopic microscopy instruments.
Optional Tasks (Based on candidate interest):
Product PR presentations at domestic and international academic conferences and exhibitions.
Staffing booths at exhibitions.
Collaborating with product engineers to develop new features or products.
In 2022, the company developed and successfully commercialized the world’s first FDTR microscope. Capable of analyzing thermal properties at smaller nano and micro scales than traditional methods, this device has attracted significant attention and high expectations from researchers across various fields, particularly the advanced semiconductor industry over the past few years. In particular, following a report on heat dissipation in stacked semiconductors by Woon et al. (TSMC) at the 2023 IEDM (International Electron Devices Meeting), interest in the device from the high-performance semiconductor field has grown rapidly.
Since the thermoreflectance microscope is a relatively new analytical tool, the candidate will often need to establish measurement and analysis methods independently. This requires both deep scientific insight and the initiative to take on new challenges. While this is an important and challenging role, it offers the thrilling reward of being among the first in the world to present brand-new measurement data to the global scientific community.
Proven Technological Capability: Developed and commercialized the world’s first FDTR microscope in 2022.
Award-Winning Excellence: Recipient of the Excellence Award (General Category) at the 38th Small and Medium Enterprise Award for Outstanding New Technology and Products.
Mandatory Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Master’s degree, or equivalent expertise/experience.
Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2 (Official certification is not required)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in application support for microscopic spectroscopy or similar devices (Experience in thermal property measurement is a plus).
English proficiency (due to international client interactions).
A mindset that thrives on taking on new challenges.
Annual Salary: ¥4,500,000 – ¥5,500,000
Bonus: Available (Targeting approx. 3 months’ pay; potential increase based on company performance).
Probationary Period: 3 months
Benefits & Insurance:
Full social insurance (Employment, Health, Worker’s Accident Compensation, Pension)
Full transportation coverage
Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (8 working hours, 60-minute break)
Holidays: Complete 2-day weekend system (Sat/Sun), National Holidays, Golden Week, Summer Holiday, Year-end & New Year holidays (120 annual days off).
Passive Smoking Countermeasures: No smoking on the premises.
Interviews: 2 rounds
Required Documents: Resume (履歴書) and Curriculum Vitae / Work History (職務経歴書)
Interview Language: Japanese (and/or English)
Please note: this position is open to candidates currently residing in Japan.
