Job Description
The company is currently seeking a Solutions Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between its clients and in-house products.
This is a hybrid, client-facing role that covers a broad range of responsibilities, including pre-sales support through participation in client meetings, post-sales technical assistance in collaboration with the Customer Success team, and L2 Product Support, where technical issues are investigated at their root cause and translated into actionable product improvements.
This position plays a critical role in establishing the foundation for the company’s future growth. As the dedicated technical authority supporting its expanding client base in Japan, the successful candidate will go beyond following existing processes and take an active role in building a scalable and structured Solutions Engineering function in collaboration with the Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams.
The role requires communication in Japanese with external clients and English with global Product and Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pre-Sales Support (Collaboration with the Sales Team)
- Participate in client meetings as a technical expert, addressing technical and product-related questions throughout the sales cycle and assessing the feasibility of client requirements.
- Focus on strategic and high-priority opportunities, as well as new product proposals, where in-depth technical expertise can make a significant difference in securing business.
- Support Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives, trial environment setup, and new account onboarding. Prepare technical responses to RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and client questionnaires covering security, integrations, and data-related matters.
- At the beginning of each trial, verify that the client’s technical setup and conversion tracking are correctly configured, ensuring a smooth trial process and reliable, accurate evaluation results.
The Sales team handles initial outreach and account management. This role joins the process as a technical expert once an opportunity has been qualified.
2. Post-Sales Technical Support (Collaboration with the Customer Success Team)
- Serve as the technical point of contact for Japanese clients when their issues go beyond the scope of frontline support.
- Address exceptional or edge-case inquiries that are not covered by the existing knowledge base, and support post-sales onboarding and system integration checks.
The Customer Success team manages primary client communication and relationship building, while this role focuses on technical matters and system integrations.
3. L2 Product Support (Collaboration with the Product Team)
- Investigate technical issues end to end, including root cause analysis, issue reproduction, and triage.
- Document clear specifications for actual product bugs and feature gaps, provide structured feedback to the Product team, and work closely with engineers to drive fixes through to completion.
- Follow up with clients to confirm that issues have been successfully resolved.
4. Knowledge Management and Process Development
- Establish and maintain structured communication workflows to ensure that client inquiries and technical issues are properly documented and managed, rather than becoming scattered across individual chats and informal channels.
- Gather insights from clients and the market, and translate them into actionable feedback for the product roadmap.
5. AI-Driven Workflow Development (Build with AI)
- Actively leverage and build AI agents and tools in daily operations to enable faster responses and more advanced technical investigations.
- Contribute new ideas for AI-driven improvements. The company has a strong culture of embracing AI and welcomes experimentation and innovative approaches.
Requirements
- Business-level Japanese proficiency (spoken and written): Ability to handle daily business discussions and communication with Japanese clients.
- Strong English proficiency (spoken and written): Ability to collaborate effectively with global Product and Engineering teams.
- Domain knowledge in AdTech, ad fraud, or the Affiliate Service Provider (ASP) industry: Practical understanding of advertising metrics, fraud detection (including bot traffic and click fraud), attribution, and the day-to-day operations of advertisers and agencies. A deep understanding of the industry landscape and the ability to identify the underlying needs behind client feedback are essential.
- At least 3 years of experience in a client-facing technical role: Experience as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Technical Support Specialist, Implementation Specialist, or in a similar position within the advertising or marketing technology industry, or a related field.
- Technical fundamentals: Understanding of APIs, data tracking, and platform integrations, with the ability to investigate and identify issues by analyzing logs and data.
- Availability to work in a hybrid arrangement, including regular attendance at the Tokyo office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience acting as a bridge between Japanese business teams and overseas Product or Engineering teams.
- Background in cybersecurity or bot detection.
- Hands-on experience with data tools such as BigQuery, Looker, Google Sheets, or Excel, as well as basic SQL skills.
- Knowledge of or experience with programmatic advertising, affiliate marketing, or the advertising agency ecosystem.
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is particularly suited to someone who can thrive in the following environment:
- Able to respond confidently and promptly to challenging client questions, drawing on strong industry knowledge and practical expertise rather than simply looking up answers.
- Passionate about resolving clients’ technical challenges end to end, taking ownership of issues and following through until fixes are completed.
- Adaptable enough to switch seamlessly between client-facing meetings and hands-on technical investigation within the same day.
- An effective communicator who can explain complex technical matters clearly and accurately in both Japanese and English, to clients as well as engineers.
- Able to remain calm under pressure and maintain honest, transparent, and professional communication with clients, even in challenging situations.
